The Faculty of Slavic Studies, one of the oldest faculties of St. Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia, nowadays covers a wide range of classical and modern fields of philology and the humanities: studies of Modern Bulgarian, of the other Slavic and Balkan languages, studies of the history of these languages and cultures, studies in the field of General and comparative linguistics, psycho- and sociolinguistics, computer linguistics, studies of the Bulgarian literature, the literatures of the other Slavic and Balkan countries, translation theory, comparative literature studies, cultural anthropology of the Bulgarians, the Slavic and Balkan people, methodology of teaching languages and literatures, etc.
