Abstract

The aim of the author of this article is to ascertain the condition and access to the literary heritage from the perspective of institutional affiliations and measures for its proper storage and preservation; to outline the existing models of coopera-tion between the institutions owning and responsible for the preservation and pro-motion of valuable written literary documents. Attention is paid in particular to the condition and the conservation of the collection of "Antiquarian, rare and valuable books" funds of RL Kyustendil, and methodology to study the condition of the paper is described. Catalogues that provide bibliographic access to valuable liter-ary documents in the possession of cultural and educational institutions in Kyustendil are analyzed. Conclusions, concerning the state and an attempt to out-line the prospects in the context of operational programs for financing activities related to the preservation and digitization of the literary documentary heritage are made.
