Abstract: | The basic conditions connected with the origin and development of the
Information Science in Bulgaria as a new scientific field is discussed. Prof. T. Borov’s modern and perspective view focused on the creation of a new discipline is presented;
this discipline consists of studying the basis of information science and information
science skills into academic education of the information science specialists.
Furthermore, the activity of Dr. Z. Petkova in the field of scientific investigations and
lecturing, the idea that the bibliography, the information science and the information
skills are entities, which complete each other, yet pointing out the specifics that are
unique to each one and that define their own way of development, is expanded upon.
This is, indeed, the basis for defending the idea for the indivisibility of the education of information science specialists from that of the librarian, which further strengthens the new tendencies, demanding new methods of approach in this academic field. |
