Abstract:
Storytelling is a core element of the design of Serious Games. Building a story is traditionally implemented by carefully chaining narrative blocks. This paper presents an approach utilizing a reverse method – stories are built via removal of blocks. The internal structure is briefly discussed along with the advantages of using this approach – the possibility to dynamically shape a story depending on the goals. Special attention is paid on the didactical modeling, the representation of competences and their relation to the story. Discussed are the game and the business perspectives fostered by the approach and a way of as-sessment that utilized the specific features of the reversed storytelling.
