Abstract:
The article – based on Andrei Siniavskii's personal archival collection kept at Hoover Institution Archives, Stanford University, California and on various sec-ondary sources – tells the story of the trial against the Soviet writers Andrei Sini-avskii (Abram Terz) and Yulii Daniel (Nikolai Arzhak). Both Siniavski and Daniel spent several years in the Soviet GULAG for publishing their works in the West (as "tamizdat"). The text pays attention to the various (national and international) ac-tions in support of the two dissidents while revealing the curious position of the communist Bulgarian writers' Union regarding this case, as well.
