As a technology platform and interaction style, AR is still in its infancy. Many applications are mere proof-of-concept rather than robust solutions integrat-ed into museums’ existence. But this does not diminish its potential for creating engaging and meaningful experiences for visitors. AR may have been overhyped to begin with but we are now entering a more serious phase during which its useful-ness will become evident. A new concept of mobile application based on AR is developed using the visitors’ smartphones and tablets. Instead investing in expen-sive hardware, museums strategies for modernization include software application and online database which are part of an automated self-aware guide. It analyzes the symbiosis of both ideologies (communism and nationalism) within the museum institution. Special attention is paid to the measures taken by the Bulgarian Com-munist Party in respect to the ideological transformation of museums. It examines the structure of the socialist museum and the imposition of dialectical-materialist approach to exhibitions, as well as the mandatory parts of the exhibitions such as the workers’ revolutionary movement and the socialist development. Authors: Димчев, Александър; Грашкина, Ваня; Dimchev, Alexander; Grashkina, Vanya Abstract: In the final articles of the Public Libraries Act, adopted in 2009 by the Nation-al Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria, was made a provision for development and adoption of several secondary documents. One of them is “Standard for library and information services”. It contains indicators which regulate the conditions related to the characteristics of setting, operation, use and evaluation of library and information services in public libraries. The indicators are the targets, which have to be reached by all public libraries to ensure equal access of all citizens to high quality library and information services. The article analyze the reasons for the still not accepted by the Ministry of Culture standards for library and information services, despite entering the fifth year of operation of the Public Libraries Act.
