It is a first step towards such rationalization and focuses exclusively on presenting the longest possible time series of various indicators and thus tries to introduce reference to them in future discussions, interpretations and evaluations. The text deliberately tries to avoid interpretations and evaluations and to concentrate on establishing the reality of what actually happened. The main conclusions reached are two. First, the emerging picture gives interesting and worthy of further academic study nuances. Second, it is sufficient to render a number of established during the last decades myths about the Bulgarian economic reality before and after the end of socialism substantively refuted.
